CSW70 Reflections: Advancing Justice, Equality, and Opportunity for Women and Girls

I am honored to once again be in New York at the United Nations Headquarters for the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), taking place from 9–19 March 2026. UN CSW remains the largest global gathering dedicated to advancing gender equality and the human rights of women and girls. This year’s priority theme focuses on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws and practices, and addressing the structural barriers that prevent women and girls from fully realizing their rights.

Just a day before the conference began, we marked International Women’s Day 2026 under the inspiring message “Give to Gain.” This powerful call reminds us that investing in women and girls, through resources, knowledge, opportunities, and solidarity. Creates stronger, more just societies for everyone. As someone deeply committed to humanitarian work, gender advocacy, and community empowerment, attending CSW is always a moment of reflection and renewed purpose. Through my work supporting women, youth, and children with special needs, I have seen firsthand how empowering even one woman or girl can transform entire families and communities. Yet, in a world currently facing conflicts, humanitarian crises, and growing inequalities, the voices and protection of women and girls are more important than ever. From communities affected by war, insurgents, terrorist to those facing poverty and discrimination, women continue to show extraordinary resilience and leadership.

My hope as we engage in dialogue, negotiations, and global collaboration at CSW70 is that we leave with strong commitments and actionable outcomes that place women and girls firmly on the path toward justice, opportunity, and peace. Together, if we give support, compassion, and opportunity, we will certainly gain a more inclusive and equitable world. I remain hopeful that when CSW70 concludes, women and girls everywhere will stand on the positive side of progress, dignity, and justice. “When we choose to give opportunities, justice, and support to women and girls, the world gains equality, peace, and progress.”
